On Wednesday, December 1st, the United States Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case which asks the United States Supreme Court to decide if all pre-viability prohibitions on elective abortions are unconstitutional.
The case was expected to be one of the highest-profile arguments of the 2021-22 term, because the state of Mississippi specifically asked the Supreme Court to overrule its decisions in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Together, those two cases hold that the Constitution protects the right to abortion prior to the time that the baby can survive outside the womb. But scrutiny has become even more intense now after the Supreme Court turned down a request to block the enforcement of a Texas law that prohibits abortions after a baby's heartbeat can be detected.
For nearly 50 years, pro-life activists have prayed, fasted, and acted for an end to abortion, and now it is more important than ever that we keep going. To that point Greater Columbus Right to Life is asking for every single pro-life person to commit to praying, fasting, and acting on December 1, 2021 for an end to abortion, but we need your help.
PRAY
Join us in making this a day of prayer in our community by one of the following:
- Join us for our prayer rally (details coming)
- (If applicable) Contact your church to request a Mass intention on December 1st (if available) or another day between now and January 22nd with the intention of "an end to abortion). If this is not possible (or in addition) ask if it is possible to lead a Rosary or hold a Holy Hour before of after with that specific intention or include the intention in the prayers of the people. Let us know via the intake form below if you are able to do this, when, and where.
- As your Pastor or Worship leader if your church, bible study, small group, or organization can offer a prayer, sermon, or praise session on December 1st (or the preceding Sunday) with the focus of ending abortion in America. Let us know via the intake form below if you are able to do this, where, and when.
FAST
Join us in making this a day of fasting in our community by pledging to make December 1st a day of fasting for you or in your household. Often, fasts are abstention from food or water or reduced consumption for those who are healthy and old enough to undertake a fast. However, others may choose to fast from something else as a sacrifice.
ACT
We will be announcing our action plan as soon as it is finalized with our partners.
